LET ROBOTS SUICIDE, NOT HUMANS….

I have started believing in “Gods of creation”; otherwise, Robots would not have come to existence!

Imagine of a little steel arm that used to pick up a material from one place and just put it into another, imagine of that little hand that took a piece of steel and held it in a furnace till the intended job was executed, the machines have moved from a non-intelligent execution to swallowing chips of Artificial intelligence – to do a job on a routine intelligence, and then to intelligently analyze a given situation to take a decision on what is right and what is wrong… the world of technology has moved fast!

Possibly, the earliest of the definitions of Artificial intelligence have been archived, giving to many new generations of definitions concurrent with the evolution of newer manifestations of machines and with the fast-developing intelligent highways that have given possibilities of work execution to a cent percent perfection -  thanks to human thought pathways! They are the new Gods of creation!

And then to the world of humanoids…

Embedded knowledge, embedded communication systems, service protocols  replacing human interventions, and if one were to believe the celluloid kings, the humanoids falling in love and expressing their emotions - ‘make believe systems’ which in due course might become ‘belief systems’ – one cannot ignore!

But the news on media was most disturbing…

The Robot committing a suicide (?) - feeling frustrated with the domestic chorus- Did it have a work-life balance issue? Let us read the following piece of news –

“It does seem extreme, I agree. But the rumor is that this robot was so fed up of housecleaning that it switched itself on, slid along the kitchen counter, and immolated itself on the kitchen stove.

As the Daily mail reports local firefighter Helmut Kniewasser declared solemnly: "Somehow it seems to have reactivated itself and made its way along the work surface where it pushed a cooking pot out of the way and basically that was the end of it.“

Sometimes I feel these Robots do teach us a lesson – ‘Hey why are you killing yourselves? You are all Gods of creation! Why should you feel lost? Why should you feel frustrated? Why should you call it the end of the world before nature herself closes the account in your life bank?

And it does make a point…

When you take a peep into the history of human suicides, some basic reasons can be listed as –

a.   Loss of self-esteem
b.   Fear of unknown
c.   Defeatism
d.   Sense of guilt
e.   Stress and frustration
There could be many more…

The human mind easily runs into any of the above invites and enjoys sympathy and self-pity and nurtures its glory on the ‘celebration’ of its split from the reality!

Many people who succumb to these feelings feel their roads closed, the pathways of life as terminal least realizing that life opens opportunity for another chance next minute, next day and another time.. Robots don’t get that opportunity. Thy can’t do that by themselves unless they are asked to! Robots, however intelligent they are work under a “Master control” and in case of humans they can always reset this master control in their own Being! It need not be, rather should not be allowed to be operated by others. Humans have the unique power of re-discovering themselves. but we should believe in that… Robots don’t have such belief systems! (at least, as of now!)

When we humans, make our life robotic, structured into thought dyes, opinion moulds, and want repeat production of yesterday again today and tomorrow, the monotony in mind, becomes a staple diet for life.. and the feeling of sickliness drives you to end a beautiful life.. We need to stop awhile, admire, wonder and celebrate each moment, event and minute of life… one cannot stop feeling the pain or pleasure so long the pain and pleasure centers operate from the CPU of your brain!

While we need to manufacture Robots, the most performing ones for our won subservience, we should not convert ourselves into those robots, losing the natural intelligence to the artificial intelligence!

Given the current work-life balance conflicts in social systems, especially in corporates, the time may not be far when the HR departments of these organizations should start teaching their folks how to live and enjoy their life, so that they can deliver better in their workstations!

LET Robots suicide. Humans shouldn’t !
